King Funeral:Fight Back

Well gang, they're trying to do it again...as Darksyde notes on the Dkos' frontpage, Imus and his cronies are starting to crank up the "liberals at funerals" outrage machine.

So we've got to beat them to the punch.

Start bombarding any and every news outlet you can with questions like:

Why do Republicans think they can tell the King family how to run their funeral?

Why do Republicans think they can tell black people how to conduct Mrs. King's service?

When a life is about activism, shouldn't its memorial be about activism as well?

This is low hanging fruit.  Let's grab it.

Start with Imus himself:
imus@msnbc.com

We all remember what they did to Wellstone.  We cannot let them do that to Mrs. King's memory.  It would represent the most egregious slap at one of the most important progressives ever.

Watch Keith Olbermann. I saw a whole different perspective on Countdown last night. I forget if it was Milbank or Olbermann who made the very same point you did about this being the King family's funeral and they could run it any way they wanted to.

The transcript isn't up yet, but you can email Keith at countdown@msnbc.com and let him know you appreciate his coverage. To the best of my knowledge he is the only journalist give O'Reilly the treatment for being a complete and utter fool.

Countdown is the only cable or network news show I watch any more. We should all just stop watching everything else.

Re: King Funeral:Fight Back (none / 0)

They can't do this it to us at this funeral like they did the Wellstone funeral.  This was a civil rights matriarch and she embodied civil rights so it was proper to talk about the lack of civil rights at this funeral.  At Wellstone he wasn't monarch for civil rights.  As for the GOP does anyone say anything when they talk at events which they are show they conserv roots, Bush just talked on phone to the pro-life annual movement, or when Bush appeared at Bob Jones university, or when Trent Lott appeared at Thurmond birthday.  They are just as guilty as Dems are at giving speeches at events to please their base.
